Solo in UW - would this work?
Hey, I was messing around with my duo partner in UW today, and was wondering if anyone has experience soloing there, on paper, I think this might work:
Prot bond (recast till it's 1 en)
Balth spirit
Mending
Boon
Blessed sig
Balth Aura
Shield of Judgment
Mend Ail/symbol of wrath
12+4+(1) prot
Once you get the prot bond to 1, you unspec in it and put the points into smiting/healing/divine, so you eventually want 11+4 smite, 10+3 heal, 10+3 divine, and you'll want 5 super runes, so your HP is at 105. At this point you can't take more than 5 damage from an attack, and you're gaining 6 (8? Not sure where mending becomes 4, if it can at all) HP a second, you don't lose energy, you can use blessed sig to replenish it, spam divine boon to heal you when mending isn't doing it, mend ail if conditions are an issue, otherwise you use the smite skills when energy permits... Would this work? Slow, yes, but still fun.

I tried an almost exact build like that a while ago, and it turned out to be a waste of 1 plat. Too defensive, took me forever to kill anything in a decent amount of time.
From then on, I stick religiously to my channeling / boon / zealots fire, usually with essence bond as well. Less survivability, but much better damage. Smite farming is very doable. I take out mending and balth's aura, since those seem to eat up too much energy, and I usually forego blessed signet as well.

Ok, interesting.. how about I kick out balth aura for zealot's... is that essentially your build? (I don't know what I'd remove for channeling =/ mend ailment is really helpful I've found, and SoJ is almost a must.

A monk by the name of Heart of Sword was in my group. Not sure what his setup was but he destroyed everything with ease and haste.
He wasn't too friendly to the rest of the group, so you could try to message him in game to ask for his build. He said that he was the creator of the low life monk build. True or not, he was invincible regardless.

i solo UW with my monk all the time i can take on 10 barbed aaxets at once they are very easy kill. their rate of attack is way too slow. only problem i run into is the squids because they hit my energy. other than that i can even release the gates and solo the complete UW.

I'm calling bull.. there is no way in hell you can solo the obsidian behemoths. Smites, coldfires, aatxes, and grasping darknesses, fine. But the behemoths? I don't believe you.

Good student. He wasn't supposed to tell anyone my build, but he wasn't supposed to take credit for it either. Granted he might have improved on what I taught him, but still BAD STUDENT.

Pretty much. You've got boon in there, and that just asks for zealots. You could also take channeling instead of mending. With the extra energy, you should be able to keep up the boon spam and heal yourself for a lot.
Without channeling or zealots, boon is just taking up a slot.

The behemoths are a problem when exploring in UW. That's why I'm an advocate of two person runs is that you can kill everything more than twice as fast...plus E/Me can solo the obsidian behemoths if you ever want to go exploring.

Any ideas on killing those damn squids? The ones that drain your energy. Sometimes I completely own them and sometimes I can't do anything due to lack of mana.
Just curious as to what your strategies are?
Also Blessed Signet is useless with it's 2 sec cast time. The Bladed's always interrupt you. Same with channeling I have found.
I haven't played with prot. bond at all, but I will tonight. I've been using prot. spirit since it casts fast, but the 10 mana cost hurts.
Also I've found Shield of Judgement really hurts your build when your using Bath's aura and Essene bond since you are depending on getting hit to get mana back.
I've spent about 40k trying various combinations on my Mo/Me. I'm definately open to suggestions at this point.

ok, i do solo UW all the time, i get 1-2 ectos per run. what i mean by soloing uw i mean smites and get to reaper, because theres no way you can do souls and keep them alive, lets not talk about the vengeful aatxes quest and the keeper of souls with lingering curse.... but doing smites with my build is easy. though i wont share the exact build because i dont want people to start farming UW but prot bond etc. get it down to 1 energy loss, bring lots of smiting prayers, i take out 2 aatxes in about 2 mins, for the grasping, you need to get them to cast disrupting chop at your healing breeze, then cast b-signet and then soj and they will eventually kill themself. if not then probably using your staff will suffice.

Yes!
Is it a good idea?
rarely!
1 player needs more (!) than 2/1 times as long than 2
2 players need more (!) than 3/2 times as long as 3
...
5 players need more (!) than 6/5 times as long as 6
The only things that get shared to a waste when you not solo are experience per kill and shared money:
Experience is what you get 40k every 40 minutes in the underworld with 8 players that act as a team.
Money is not worth anything.

it is bull ... first off an all mighty who has soloed in U/W as much as you come off saying ... does not actually know the name of the creature ? barbed aaxets?? secondly ... 10 at a time???? where on earth are you able to farm 10 at a time? there is 12 accessible off the hop but you would likely not be able to aggro them all as they return to their positions when they travel too far. Same game mechanics as the mergoyles outside of kryta.
But I simply have demanding doubts on this ... very easily ??? are we talking about the same place? It will take a full fledges nuker with 16 fire 7-10 rocks alone to kill something. Shower only ever hits every second or third rock.
Please download fraps and show us your soloing 10 bladed so we can all eat our assumptions. sorry

You can kill quite a few ataxes in a group.. but I think the number is closer to 5-6 since they're so big and body blocking is a problem. (Getting enough to surround you is quite hard)
Also about the post of 5 players being faster than 1... NOT always. Some groups of 8 can't even make it past the first 2 ataxes. Other groups like trappers take several years to set up everything.
